Nokia had recently unveiled five new phones at MWC 2018. Out of those, 2 smartphones, the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus will be launched in India next week. HMD Global has not mentioned the launch of any particular device so far but they are expected to bring their top of the line devices on April 4 at an event in New Delhi.

Nokia 7 Plus

The Nokia 7 Plus will be the second installment of Nokia 7 that was released in 2017.  Though the device is powered by Snapdragon 660, there are various other elements that make it a relatively good package. The Nokia 7 Plus comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 6-inch FullHD+ screen. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The new Nokia 7 Plus will have dual camera setup at the rear with primary camera having 12 MP wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/1.75. The secondary one is a 13 MP unit that is capable of 2x zoom and comes with an aperture of f/2.6. Powering the device is a 3,800 mAh battery, which the company claims will deliver a two-day battery life.

The front camera has a 16 MP unit that offers an aperture of f/2.0, 1 micron pixels and Zeiss optics. During the launch the company had claimed that the device will sell at 399 euros (roughly Rs 32,000) before any kind of taxes or subsidies are applied.

The device will be the most premium flagship smartphone from Nokia. HMD Global is using a Snapdragon 835 chipset to power the device which comes paired with 128 GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM. The device will have stainless steel borders like iPhone X.  Underneath, there is a 5.5-inch curved edge-to-edge pOLED 2K display with smaller bezels and moulded body curves to create an ultra-compact profile.

Coming to optics, it has specs similar to Nokia 7 Plus.  A 12 MP Zeiss primary lens and a 13 MP secondary lens with 2x optical zoom. The front camera has a 5 MP sensor that has a wide-angle lens with an 84 degree field of vision. The device will have wireless charging support and comes bundled with Qualcomm Quickcharge that promises 50 per cent of power in just 30 minutes.

Of course, such features come at a hefty price and Nokia 8 Sirocco will be priced above Rs 45K. However due to stiff competition from Samsung and OnePlus we might see a price drop as well.

What do you think about Nokia smartphones?  Will it retain its “Legend” tag?
