Nokia has announced 5 new phones including a featurephone that will be released later in 2018. It includes Nokia 8110, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 6, Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 1. The device that caught everyone’s attention was the Nokia 8110 which has a re-imagined feature phone that was made famous in the The Matrix movies. Lets find out what each of these devices have to offer.
This is the first Android Oreo Go smartphone from Nokia. The OS is designed to run even on smartphone with less than 1GB RAM. The Nokia 1 is also very customizable. The Xpress-on covers is made of polycarbonate which is interchangeable. Not only it looks trendy but also helps to protect the device from scratches.
Priced at around $100, this device will be available in Warm Red and Dark Blue to fans around the world. Xpress-on covers, sold separately, are available from US$7.99 in Azure, Grey, Yellow and Pink.
Nokia 7 Plus
Touted as Nokia’s flagship device, the 7 plus is the second installment of the original Nokia 7. The device has 6.2 inch FHD+ resolution and a dual camera setup at the back. The primary camera has 12MP sensor which is a wide angle lens and the secondary camera has 13MP sensor with 2x optical zoom. On the front is a 16MP camera. The device also has three microphones and the cameras have been embedded with Carl Zeiss lens.
Under the hood there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB RAM. The Nokia 7 Plus will have 3,800 mAh battery. Slated to go on sale in April, this new device will be available in black and copper or white and copper variants.
The new Nokia 6 (2018) will have 5.5 inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. There will be a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera as well. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. The new device offers more performance and features like Dual-Sight, Zeiss optics, USB-C fast-charging, a more compact screen-to-body ratio, Nokia spatial audio, and Android Oreo.
Available in three colour blends: Black and Copper, White and Iron, or Blue and Gold, the New Nokia 6 is also available in two configurations of 3GB RAM/32GB ROM, which will be available in early April, or a 4GB RAM/64GB ROM model coming later.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
There’s not much of a difference between the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco. It runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. What has changed is the physical design. It has a larger curved OLED 2K 5.5in display, a tougher stainless steel frame, a Gorilla Glass 5 front and back, and is IP67 certified.
The new Nokia 8 Sirocco will be available from April. The device has dual camera setup at the rear and standard single camera at the front. The rear cameras will use dual pixel phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom for better picture quality. Meanwhile, the front camera has been demoted to 5MP.
The featurephone which you saw in Matrix is now a reality. The slider phone runs on a Qualcomm 205 mobile platform and features 4G connectivity. It is even capable of running apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Search, Facebook, and Twitter.
Though a featurephone, the Nokia 8810 will have dedicated app store. It can do basic operations of a smartphone like sending and receiving emails, syncing etc. We are sure about the launch of this device in India and expected to be priced around Rs 6.5K.
Nokia Android One
The most important announcement by HMD Global. The Nokia 6(2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco will be a part of Googe’s Android One program. This means you will get regular security updates and at-least two years of OS upgrade.
