Asus has released new Android 8.0 Oreo for its Zenfone 3 series smartphones. This includes both ZE552KL and ZE520KL variants. The update was released on 29th January and is being rolled out incrementally.
The new update brings in several improvements in the UI and also adds Android Oreo’s core software features. To recall, Asus had promised last year that it would be releasing Android Oreo for Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 4 smartphones. The Oreo update for Zenfone 3 smartphones can be checked from Settings > About > System Update. The update also removes apps like Minimovie, Photo Collage, and Do It Later.
Some Oreo features in this update include Picture-in-Picture, Autofill, Smart text selection, Background limits, adaptive icons, and a redesigned emoji library. The Asus Zenfone 4 has already received Android Oreo earlier this month.
The Zenfone 3 was launched in India back in August 2016 alongside the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, the ZenFone 3 Ultra, and the ZenFone 3 Laser. Recalling the specs, the Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) sports a 5.5-inch full-HD display, 4GB RAM, and 64GB inbuilt storage. While the Zenfone 3 (ZE520KL) sports a 5.2-inch full-HD display, 3GB RAM, and 32GB inbuilt storage.
Both these smartphones have 16-megapixel rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED, dual-tone flash. On the front is an 8-megapixel sensor with 1080p video for selfies and video calling. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC.
