WhatsApp, undoubtedly the most popular instant messaging app might give additional power to group admins. Currently, group admins can only add and remove members. But soon Admins will be able to restrict all other members from sending text messages, photographs, videos, GIFs, documents or voice messages.
The feature can be enabled from Restrict Group settings once its released on Beta platform. It can be activated only by an Administrator, and once enabled Administrators can keep sharing media and chatting as normal as they restrict other members.
The other members of the group can still read the messages but won’t be able to respond. They will have to use “Message Admin” button to post a message. Once the Admin approves, then the message will appear in the group.
That’s not all, WhatsApp group Administrators will also be able to restrict members from changing group subject and icon.
This year, we have been seeing a lot of changes made in WhatsApp like Deleting messages, text status and two step authentication. Literally, its impossible to beat WhatsApp by other instant messaging apps like Hike and Telegram.
We are very curious about restricting member from changing group name and icon. Group members often mess around with group icons so giving administrators more power is much needed.
