Alcatel 1 Android Go smartphone launched, costs $89

Alcatel is keen to expand its portfolio under its budget Alcatel 1 lineup. The company has now launched Alcatel 1 Android Go smartphone priced just $89. It is part of the Google’s Android Go initiative that offers stock Android to users with entry-level smartphones.

Alcatel 1: Specifications

The smartphone features a 5 inch qHD+ full screen display with screen resolution of 960 x 480 pixels. It is powered by Mediatek’s MT6739 chipset paired with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. The storage can be expanded up-to 32 GB via microSD card. One key feature of this smartphone is that it runs Android 8.0 Oreo Go edition. It comes pre-loaded with Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go and Youtube Go.

Coming to camera, the Alcatel 1 has 5 MP rear camera that can be interpolated to 8 MP. It supports LED flash, and other features like Social Square, Instant Collage, One-Handed Mode, and Photo Booth. On the front, there’s a 2 MP front sensor that can be interpolated to a 5-megapixel camera.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, a Micro-USB port, and GPS/ A-GPS. Some features include dual-microphone noise cancellation, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an accelerometer and proximity sensor. However, there’s no fingerprint sensor. The device is powered by 2000mAh battery that the company claims can provide 8 hours of battery life under 4G usage, and a charging time of roughly 3 hours and 24 minutes.

Alcatel 1: Availability & Price

The Alcatel 1 will be available in three color options — Metallic Blue, Metallic Gold, and Metallic Black. Priced at $89 this device will be available for purchase in select markets starting from July.
