HMD Global to launch Nokia X on April 27

Remember the old Nokia X? It was the first Android smartphone from Nokia few years back that was a catastrophe. An advertisement has apparently been spotted touting the name of the device in a mall in China, and futher reports indicate that the device will be launched this month itself, on April 27, internationally.

Nokia X

A report suggests that Nokia X might refer to Nokia 10, where X stands for numeral 10. There have been no major leaks about this device yet. According to rumors, the new device will be available in two variants, the Snapdragon and MediaTek. From the leaked image we can make out that the phone has a 2.5D curved display and a metal back. The metal body is also curved at the corners.

Its worth mentioning that new Nokia X has nothing to do with old Nokia X. HMD Global will remain tight lipped about this device and it may come up with a surprise launch as it will be an important smartphone in the company’s portfolio. The device will be made from a  combination of metal and glass.

The Nokia X naming is familiar to iPhone X. It’s obvious that HMD won’t try to compete against Apple. It will be probably more upper mid-range than high-end. It is expected to have 64GB internal storage alongside either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
