Last year Bezel less smartphone was a major trend, and this year it will be under-display fingerprint scanner. Vivo was the first smartphone company to launch an under-display fingerprint scanner enabled smartphone, the Vivo X20 UD. One of the Weibo users posted a funny statement to it saying that the Xiaomi Mi 7 could be arriving with an under-display fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, it is said to follow on the footsteps of other Chinese smartphone makers and adopt a notched display design.
Xiaomi Mi 7
Recent report suggest that Xiaomi will be launching Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus soon. The leaked firmware files of the Mi 7 have revealed plenty of information on its specs and features. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and come with a 5.6-inch full HD Plus display and 128 GB of internal storage. It may also feature 8GB of RAM and the price is expected to be under $500.
The phone might have a metallic back which precludes a possibility of wireless charging. The camera setup at the rear will be 16MP dual cameras placed vertically. The front camera will have advanced facial recognition and 3,400mAh battery.
The remarks appear to have been made in a light tone but when viewed with other circumstantial evidence, it adds to the possibility that the Mi 7 might indeed have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Meanwhile, there are rumors milling about Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus as well. Reports state that Under-display fingerprint sensor will be added only in Mi 7 Plus and not Mi 7.
