Chinese technology giant, Huawei has taken the wraps off its new MateBook X Pro notebook and MediaPad M5 series tablets. The devices, which will launch across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, China, and the Middle East during the Northern hemisphere’s spring season, are part of what Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu called the company’s attempt to enable an “all-connected world”.
Huawei Matebook X Pro specifications
This new beast features an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processor; a Nvidia GeForce MX150 GPU with 2GB GDDR5 or Intel UHD Graphics 620. It also has 1 MP front facing camera, quad digital microphones and quad speakers. The device boasts Dolby Atmos sound system audio; and a 57.4Wh Lithium polymer battery with 12 hours of video playback according to Huawei’s lab tests.
The Matebook X Pro will have 13.9-inch display, and comes in mystic silver and space grey colours. Besides this, there’s a provision for 2×2 Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (2×2 MIMO) support and USB-C x2 as well. The notebook comes with a metal unibody and boasts of a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio along with a 3k picture resolution. It also runs latest Windows 10 operating system.
Huawei MediaPad M5 series
The tablet market has been dead for a while now, and Huawei is trying hard to dominate by launching the 8.4-inch MediaPad M5, the 10.8-inch MediaPad M5, and the 10.8-inch MediaPad M5 Pro.
All three tablets will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 960 octa-core processor. The Pro version features a 2560×1600 IPS display with 280 pixels per inch (ppi) and has 64GB/128GB of ROM memory, 4GB of RAM. It also includes a microSD card slot with up to 256GB of additional capacity and a 7500mAh Lithium-polymer battery.
Coming to the lower variants of MediaPad M5, the 10.8 inch variant has 359ppi and a 7500mAh Lithium-polymer battery while the one with 8.4 inch display has 280ppi and a 5100mAh Lithium-polymer battery. Both of them will be available in 32GB/64GB/128GB variants with a microSD card slot (up to 256GB).
These three tablets come with ambient light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, Hall effect sensor, and fingerprint sensors, a built-in microphone, quad speakers, and Huawei Histen stereo sound effect. In the optics section, all three MediaPad variants have an 8MP front-facing camera with fixed focus and 13MP rear camera with autofocus.
It will be running Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI over it. Huawei has also added LTE connectivity feature. The three tablets come in space grey and champagne gold colours. Price haven’t been revealed yet.
