Mobile World Congress(MWC) 2018 will begin from February 26th in Barcelona. A 4 day mega event where Companies showcase their innovation and launch smartphones. The event is huge and it’s pretty hard to keep track of all devices, so we decided to outline some products that will be launched here.
Undoubtedly, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be the star attraction at MWC 2018. The device will be sporting Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which focuses more on AI without compromising performance. The Galaxy S9+ will have dual rear camera setup while the Galaxy S9 will feature single rear camera.
Recently we mentioned about Iris scanner being integrated with Face unlock in Samsung Galaxy S9 series to make unlocking foolproof. It will also have fingerprint sensor at the back though not underneath the display.
Huawei said it will be holding a press conference on February 25, Sunday, but there have been no mention about upcoming Huawei P20. The device will be announced in March at Paris.
Huawei could launch smart speaker, a segment that has zero competition. Also, we are hoping Huawei to launch some tablets in its MateBook series.
The brand that has set tremors in India will be launching Mi Mix 2S at MWC 2018. The design will be having iPhone X like notch with bezel less design. It will have 18:9 display aspect ratio and will be featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.
Sadly, Xiaomi got us wrong about Mi 7. Everyone had expected this device to be featured at MWC, but it seems that Xiaomi will launch it in April. If all goes well we might even see under display fingerprint sensor from Xiaomi.
LG won’t be launching any flagship device, but it is planning to launch the LG V30+a, a version of the LG V30+ with enhanced AI. For now, that’s all we have from house of LG.
It’s unlikely Motorola will launch flagship device at MWC. However, we will be seeing new generation of G series smartphones from Motorola, the Moto G6, G6+ and G6 Play.
The Moto G6 play will have larger battery with 18:9 display aspect ratio. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with 2/3GB RAM and 16/32GB internal storage. The processor might be old, but this are just rumored specifications. Hopefully Motorola uses Snapdragon 450 octa core processor.
We cant predict much about G6 and G6+. However it will be priced lower and might have specs less powerful compared to G6 Play.
When it comes to Sony its impossible to guess their next flagship, especially the names. Sony has struggled to keep up with the competition – particularly in terms of design. There might be Sony Xperia XZ Pro with 4K screen and the Snapdragon 845 chipset.
One main reason why Sony hasn’t succeeded is pricing. Their flagship devices are generally overpriced. Hopefully, Sony learns from its mistake.
This post isn’t complete without mentioning Nokia. A brand that was known for its legendary Nokia 3310 made a stunning come back in 2017. Nokia 9, the most awaited un-launched flagship device that we have been waiting might not be launched this time too. May be Nokia 1 and Nokia 4?
That’s all folks, we know there’s so much to cover about MWC 2018. We’ll try our best to keep you updated from various sources
