Xiaomi has always stood out in the smartphone war. They have managed to bring 7 inch smartphones and near bezelless design to budget smartphones. The Redmi Series is Xiaomi’s own budget segment brand and Redmi Note 5 is yet another addition to it.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Specification and Price
As can be seen from the leaked picture, Redmi Note 5 boasts dual camera setup at the rear and near bezelless design. The device has high screen to body ratio and this seems to be the new trend in budget smartphones. The launch date has not been revealed but we are pretty sure it will be by February end.
The new Redmi Note 5 will be available in two variants: 3GB of RAM variant followed by a 4GB of RAM variant with an increased storage capacity. A new move by Xiaomi is that SoC in both these variants will be different. The 3GB variant will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 while the 4GB will be embedded with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636.

The major difference between the two SoC is the processing power. Xiaomi wants to offer more value for money besides increasing RAM and internal storage in the 4GB variant. Both the devices will have 6 inch 18:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2880×1440.
The dual camera setup at the rear has 16MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera. At the front there is a regular 8MP shooter. The fingerprint sensor has been mounted at the rear below the LED flash.
Regarding software, Redmi Note 5 will run on MIUI 9 based Android Nougat 7.1. We feel the smartphone would have more value if it had Android Oreo out-of the box.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Price and availability in India
The device will be launched in China in late February priced at 1,499 Yuan (Rs 15K approx.) and 1,799 Yuan (Rs 18K approx.) respectively. It will take some time before it arrives in India. We can’t predict any time frame as of now.
