A week back when OnePlus had pulled the Android Oreo update for OnePlus 5, many users were in a fear that they won’t get future updates. Today OnePlus once again launched Oreo update for OnePlus 5 users. This time all the issues have been fixed. Lets find out where you can download the update.

OnePlus 5 Beta Oreo Update

The update is still under beta testing and includes December 2017 security update. Alongside all of the usual features associated with Android 8.0 Oreo, the new OxygenOS beta includes a new user interface for the default camera app.

Those who have unlocked their Bootloaders, OxygenOS 5.0.1 will not install as warned by OnePlus. If you have your bootloader unlocked then you can re-lock it and then install the Oreo update.

OnePlus says the beta release will be a rolled out incrementally, which means it could take some time to get out to everyone.  Android 8.0 Oreo includes picture-in-picture functionality, enabling users to continue watching a video while using another app.

There are also new battery life improvements, better space management and notification indicators on app icons. Unlike Xiaomi, OnePlus allows anyone to join its Open Beta Program and manually sideload the latest Oreo beta. However, OnePlus 5 users should be aware that since this is beta update, it may be unstable and likely contains a number of glitches and app crashes. Its recommended you take a proper backup before proceeding with the installation.

Hopefully this update will be stable and won’t be rolled back in future. Let us know your Oreo experience.
