Lenovo which is very popularly knows for its K series smartphone launched the Lenovo K8 Note in India last week. The specs of the phone are really aggressive, the phone will be competing with Redmi Note 4 and lenovo’s own Moto G5 and G5 Plus. The phone will be available on Amazon via flash sale starting from 18th August and will be available in two colours i.e. Venom Black and Fine Gold. Does Lenovo K8 Note has the thrust to stand out in mid 15k segment smartphones? Lets find out.
Normally we discuss camera in the later part of the post but since K8 Note is prominently knows for its Dual Camera setup, we decided to post this first. The phone has 13MP (OV13855) and 5MP (S5K5E2) rear camera with support for flash. While the 13MP clicks normal pictures, the 5MP is used for depth sensing. With the combo of these, you can get DSLR like effects. Lenovo didn’t disappoint selfie lovers too as they have added 13 MP front camera with flash support that promises to click great selfies.
The phone is made up of metal and poly-carbonate which gives a premium look. On the rear we have the dual camera setup with flash, right below it is the fingerprint sensor. Above the camera is the secondary noise cancellation mic. On the front there’s a 13 MP camera with flash. Below the screen is navigation keys (doubt if its back-light). The right side of the phone has power and volume rocker keys while on the left there’s a SIM tray which is thankfully not hybrid. There’s also a music key which can be used to launch any apps as per users wish. The phone has a nano coating which protects the phone from water splash (It’s not waterproof, so don’t dip it in water). There’s a 3.5 mm jack on the top and USB charging slot at the bottom.
Lenovo K8 Note has 5.5 inch Full HD display featuring 2.5D glass which gives the phone a sleek appearance. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass for additional protection. The screen also attracts less fingerprint due to the protection.
Software and Hardware
Lenovo K8 Note will be Lenovo’s first device that runs on pure stock Android 7.1.1. No more bloated custom UI like vibe UI that was incredibly crappy. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio X23 decacore processor clocked at 2.4 GHz. There will be two variants of this device. One with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, the second one will have 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Both the variants will have an option to expand the storage upto 128 GB via MicroSD card.
Lenovo has been very consistent about multimedia features in their device and K8 Note does the same. With the addition of TheatreMax and Dolby Atmos you get a rich multimedia experience. You can use it with VR headsets to further enhance the experience.
It includes accelerometer ,Proximity sensor, Ambient Light sensor, E-compass and gyroscope for VR experience.
The phone is a dual SIM that has support for 2G ,3G and 4G (Band 3,5 and 40) which also supports VoLTE. To make the phone future proof Lenovo K8 Note even supports CAT6. There’s WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, WiFi hotspot and Bluetooth 4.2.
To power this beast Lenovo has provided 4,000 mAh of Li-Po battery that promises to provide a day’s battery life on heavy usage. It also has support for fast charging (15W charger).
Our first impression, go and buy this. If you are waiting to buy Redmi Note 4 then here’s the ultimate replacement. With Dual Camera and awesome multimedia features Lenovo has certainly done a fabulous job. The 3GB variant will be priced at Rs 12,999 and the 4GB variant at Rs 13,999.
