Android O is the next software version which with no doubt will bring major updates to your Android phones. Most of us already know about it and have been talking about Android O for quite some time. Some people call it the Android O, while some refer to the next software update as the Android 8.0. Logically, that should be the case, but Google never mentioned the Android O to be Android 8.0. This is why, calling Android O – Android 8.0 is actually not correct.

However, a report coming from¬†xdadeveloper¬†shows screenshots of few Google Photos and Google Keep APKs which reportedly reveals that platform BuildVersion Name to be 8.0.0. That being said, did Google unofficially confirm the Android O to be the Android 8? Possibly yes. But, there are still no official words on whether Android 8.0 is the same as the Android O. However, if this report proves to be accurate, calling the Android O — Android 8.0 won’t be actually wrong.

We all know that Google has always been focused on playing with the minds of the public by leaking screenshots, posts or teasing builds. Even this time, Google is somewhat playing the same game. Google sends out tear down of the Google Photos and Google Keep almost every now and then. The tear downs of Google Photos and Google Keep APKs sent out after June 1 shows the build version name as the “8.0”.

This means, if the report is to be taken seriously, only Google Photos and Google Keep mention the version name as 8.0.0. While, other apps like Gboard, Gmail, Google App, Google Calendar, and Google Maps show their platform BuildVersion Name as “O”. This is a little strange as to why only two apps come with the version 8.0 and others don’t. This either could be a mistake or Google is possibly working on some new update which the company might unveil soon.

At the I/O conference last month, Google released the second developer preview of the next software version – Android O. Back in March, the first developer preview of the next software version was rolled out. Reports suggest that Android O is likely to officially release some time around August or September along with the next Pixel phone.

Well, before Google could officially release the Android O update for the public, smartphone makers like OnePlus, HMD Global confirms that some of their devices will receive the Android O update. OnePlus CEO last day tweeted that OnePlus 3 and 3T will get the Android O soon after it is release. After OnePlus, HMD Global reportedly confirmed that Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 will also get the Android O update soon.

Android smartphones will get major upgrades with the coming of the new software. Android O is going to bring a number of new upgrades like better battery life and also features like — streamlined notifications, auto fill, picture-in-picture, improvements in the audio system, better keyboard navigation, wide-gamut color for apps, support for third-party calling apps and a lot more.
